Oxford Maimonides Institute
The Oxford Maimonides Institute was founded in July, 2008, with the intention of researching the works of Maimonides and Jewish philosophy in general bringing them to the awareness of the wider academic community and the public.
Oxford is a prestigious world centre of scholarship and contains in its central library, the Bodleian, est 16th century by Hebrew ethusiast Thomas Bodley, a collection of some of the most important and oldest Hebrew manuscripts in the world today.
This collection is of immense importance and served as the inspiration for the establishment of the Oxford Maimoinides Institute.
The library holds one of the oldest Maimonides' manuscripts of his code on Jewish law, Mishneh Torah, and a copy of his original handwriting in the form of his signature in Hebrew authenticating a manuscript of the Mishneh Torah.
Please feel free to browse the pages on the right to read about the relatively unknown wealth of Maimonidian works that are in Oxford.
