with COMEDIAN DAVE SCHNEIDER

The Oxford University Chabad Society hosted an Irish-themed Purim party with renowned Jewish comedian Dave Schneider on Monday 9 March at the David Slager Jewish student Chabad Centre. The evening featured a buffet dinner with Irish drinks, Irish folk music, fancy dress, the Megillah reading, and lots of Hamantashen.

The highlight of the evening, however, which was attended by around 70 people, was a performance by the comedian Dave Schneider, who is an alumnus of the University of Oxford and studied for a DPhil in Yiddish drama.

Schneider came to prominence as an actor and comedian in award-winning comedy shows & films such as ‘I'm Alan Partridge‘, ‘The Day Today’ & ‘Mission Impossible‘. Schneider’s act lasted for around 20 minutes and involved the participation of the audience.

Pony rides in central Oxford in celebration of Purim

This Irish-themed Purim party was the first of two events held over the Purim festival. On Tuesday 10 March, the Society also held a Community Purim Party, with fancy dress, music, buffet, arts & crafts, and the Megillah reading, which was attended by families of the Oxford Jewish community as well as students.

The highlight of the event was the pony rides in the theme of Purim with every child receiving a ride on George St in the centre of Oxford.
